Société/A Working Place
In traditional Voodoun, the société is the group performing a ritual addressing the spirits of the other side with wishes; with imaginations of an alternative order of things. By opening a gate to the life in a virtual, parallel world, the members of the société join in the performative act of creating the possibility of a possibility.
Voodoun is by definition a collective ritual; its practice diffuses the border between artists and spectators in a structure where nobody taking part of the event is reduced to the position of audience. Like at a wedding, after the ceremony we have all being part of the performative act taking place.

Société/A Working Place is an open, non-hierarchic platform for citizens and artists. For 21 days, 21 artists are invited to an accumulative process of building a model for production of collective imaginaries; presenting both a context and a space/time to connect thoughts and wishes from as many different perspectives as possible.
We start from an empty room and construct the space along the way. Presentations of the work will be held every night at 7.30 pm, leading up to a public ritual and celebration with all participants the last night.

Performances, installations and workshops are produced in co-operation with the local community. The content, rules and design of the space will be defined by its members.

We do not intend to follow any specific text or paradigm. However, we will work out of a set of basic conditions and beliefs:
1. Anything made by man can be re-made differently
2. Anyone can take part. No specific knowledge is needed to construct a wish.
3. All wishes are welcome as long as they do not have negative consequences for others.
4. Société is neutral to political, cultural and religious belonging.
5. It´s objective is to connect different beliefs and perspectives, not to assimilate them or create identity.
6. Société is devoted to creation of imaginaries, and does not seek power over the real world.
7. Reality will always only be capable of being exactly like it – at the present – presents itself to us. A Model, however, is a tool to imagine whatever version of the state of things we wish to imagine.
8. The criteria of difference is superior to that of identity
